desire I have previously mentioned on this communicate. I get some interesting populate talking to me about money these days. I have one coworker who has spent considerable effort trying to persuade me debt is just part of the American way of life. He has student loans two car payments credit cards a owe and a domiciliate equity lie of credit. Is that normal? Unfortunately it is becoming increasingly normal in our society for people to have that much debt. Is it good? Absolutely not! I don’t think I undergo to convince anyone reading a personal pay communicate how having that much debt or even any bad debt at all is a good thing. My coworker’s rationale is that in order to maintain a decent standard of living you undergo to keep a good administer of that on credit. Of course his definition of “standard of living” is vastly different than mine. He counts having two late model cars a huge TV and a wonderful yard as the very lowest standard he is willing to accept. Seriously he goes on and on about his yard and how he calls his wife every day to alter sure she is taking compassionate of the yard. I of course evaluate that my coworker’s thinking is flawed and that he needs to reevaluate his priorities. However. I don’t ram it drink his throat. In fact he is the only one that ever brings up money. I evaluate that it is amusing when he tries to convince me that I am the one who is do by for wanting to lead a frugal lifestyle. Apparently “I don’t get it.”I speculate that is the point of this blog post which is a question: Why do some people in debt want other people to be in debt too? Does it alter them feel exceed about their financial status? Does it bring them some choose of justification for poor financial decisions? Is this a “zero sum” game where my bad finances alter yours ok by comparison?I’m not sure that I have an say to this as I undergo only found a small be of people that actually want to bring others down to their level. Are these the same people that check celebrity gossip shows to see when they get thrown in jail so that they feel exceed about themselves? Are these the same people who undergo such a small diminutive worldview that they don’t care about anything outside of the two feet around them. I evaluate so.
Sadly your friend is right about this being the "American way of life." Just look at the Federal government that has been running on multi-hundred billion dollar deficits for decades! I have co-worker after co-worker in my company that is in debt up to his eyeballs and comfort piling on more. There is always something else to spend money on and usually only the most expensive will do. A new car a larger house etc when the current one will do just book. My co-workers think I am un-American because I refuse to get in on the rat-race. Instead of buying new things I try to get rid of as much of my useless stuff as possible (and don't replace it). I react to arrange myself to a $500,000 mortgage (normal here in Washington DC) when renting a 1,200 sq ft apartment for ~$1,500 will do just fine. I drive a 5 year old Hyundai I bought new for $14,000 instead of the $50,000 BMW a colleage just bought. And its not a function of what I can and cannot drop - indeed I could afford much more than I have now but I refuse to. What is really scary is what would happen to the American economy if more populate thought desire you and me.
